CFTC RECEIVES AWARD ON PUBLIC SERVICE PERFORMANCE

The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has been awarded for its outstanding performance in public service delivery in the 2015/16 financial year.

The award was presented during the launch of the Managing for Development Results Learning Week on 24th January 2017 at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe. The week which is themed Embracing a Results Culture will run through Friday 27th January 2017. The award was based on the Organisation Performance Agreement that the Commission signed with the Office of the President and Cabinet.

Presenting the awards, Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon Goodall Gondwe encouraged the winners including CFTC to keep up the good work.

“Let me congratulate all institutions that have won the awards today. I would also like to encourage them and of course others that have not won to work harder to develop this country,” said Gondwe who presented the awards alongside Chief Secretary Lloyd Muhara.

CFTC Executive Director, Charlotte Wezi Malonda speaking after receiving the award said she was delighted with the award.

“We have an excellent team at the CFTC. These results show the great efforts by the team. I hope we will win more awards because we believe the sky is the limit,” said Malonda.

The recent award is the fifth award that the Commission has received since establishment a few years ago. In 2014, in recognition of the Commission's initiatives of fighting corruption at the workplace, the Anti-Corruption Bureau named CFTC as one of the top three transparent organisations in Malawi. The World Bank Group, in conjunction with the International Competition Network, has for two consecutive years, in 2015 and 2016, awarded the CFTC for its innovative advocacy strategies in the promotion of competition in emerging market. Finally, the Commission was named as the Best Service Provider during the 2015 Malawi International Trade Fair.
